![]() If you are trying to decide on a major, want help with any written document (resume, cover letter or personal statement), are seeking an internship / job or considering graduate school, you and I should definitely meet since my personal mission statement is “to help people identify who they are, what they are capable of doing … and becoming”. I have also served in leadership roles in several community-based and health-focused non-profit organizations. This led to degrees in development psychology (U of T) and industrial / organization psychology (U of M) and a 40-year career in a variety of roles with Ameriprise Financial / IDS Financial Services and Right Management (a global HR consulting firm). However, when I took my first psychology course at the University of Toronto, I realized that was the field for me. My love language is laughing and connecting with others over food, and my lunch breaks are sacred times for this. I strive to lead with empathy, authenticity, vulnerability, and with an equity lens. Thriving in creativity, collaboration, and connection, I am in my element when I get to make deep connections with others, envision future possibilities, and strategize about how we can create more diverse, inclusive, accessible, and equitable spaces. I feel fulfilled when a student leaves my office feeling more confident than when they arrived. Fast forward a few years later and I now have the privilege of helping students navigate their own career paths! My favorite topics to coach on are major/career exploration, nonprofit and advocacy career preparation, and graduate school planning. Knowing I had a strong desire to help others, I allowed myself to explore courses and experiences that gave me insight and exposure into how humans grow, behave, and communicate - insert double major in Psychology and Communication. It wasn’t until I met with my advisor, and took a career course, that I discovered a whole world of possibilities yet to explore.
